Hello! So Glad You're Here.

THE BASICS

SCAAC was founded in 2017 by a group of Stanwood and Camano Island artists as a grass roots non-profit with a mission to build community by partnering, educating, celebrating, and advocating for the arts. SCAAC supports the local artist community by encouraging cross group collaboration, advocating for the arts locally and regionally, and hosting events that celebrate our local artists.  SCAAC’s current programs include youth and adult art education, public art project management with the City of Stanwood, and strategic partnerships that further the goals of Stanwood and Camano Island artists and art organizations.

ART EDUCATION

Our Programming Committee is currently working to develop and manage a robust calendar of teaching and learning opportunities that invite everyone including children, seniors, those with disabilities and those without previous experience to engage in visual arts.

PUBLIC ART

SCAAC is working together with the City of Stanwood to develop public art policies, facilitate, coordinate and manage calls for art and ensure fair compensation. Our first public art project together is now a permanent fixture in Stanwood's downtown. The Banner Project saw the installation of seasonal banners by local artists mounted on light posts throughout Stanwood.

LOCAL ARTISTS

We fully support our local art groups, and all are welcome to join SCAAC in our mission to integrate art into all aspects of our community. We seek to link all local artists with opportunities for teaching, shows, public art and collaboration.

JOIN US!

What does it mean to be a part of the SCAAC community? Our community meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. We have switched to a hybrid model - quarterly in person meetings (at 6pm) and Zoom meetings in between (at 10am - link here). Each monthly meeting includes updates on art education, calls for art, public art projects, opportunities for artists/patrons/volunteers and more. The presentation is then emailed to everyone on the emailing list so that those that were unable to attend can see what we're been up to. And it's FREE! There are no dues or fees involved. Enter your email address below to join our e-mailing list.

Join our monthly SCAAC Community meetings! Zoom link here.

Want to catch up on things? Check out our monthly newsletters here.

SCAAC will be a catalyst that vaults the Stanwood-Camano area into a regional destination for art, artists and community and contributes to a creative economy and prosperous region.
