SCAAC Monthly Meeting

Our quarterly monthly meeting is being generously hosted by local art supporters Steve & Paula Thomas. They have invited Seattle-based artist (and friend) Lauren Sloan to lead an artist talk and showcase some artwork. We hope you can join us for this meeting/salon!

Artist Bio:

Lauren Sloan,  Lauren Sloan Designs, International Artist - Seattle, WA

Lauren is from South Africa and received her Art Degree in Textile Design from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, S Africa.  She started her own business Art ‘n Soul, in partnership with Brigitte Collett, which was very successful from 1994 to 2002 based in South Africa. They worked on many prestigious international projects with Angel Interiors of London:  including the palace of His and Her Majesty, the Late King Hussein and Queen Noor of Jordan, the palace of His and Her Majesty, King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan, the private residence of Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson in London,  no 18-19 Kensington Palace Gardens in London,  John Aspinall’s animal sanctuary in Kent, plus his privately owned casino in Mayfair, London.  In 2002, Lauren immigrated to Vancouver, Canada and shortly after, whilst on a wonderful project in Barbados decorating the Mango Bay Hotel and Casino, she met her wonderful husband, Allen. A year later they married, and she relocated to Seattle, where Lauren Sloan Designs was born. Besides specializing in the decorative arts, which includes faux finishes, murals, wood graining, marble and stone effects and gilding, she offers a range of hand fashioned wallpapers.  Lauren is often referred to as the “ wood whisperer” due to her creative talents of remodel finishes. She has done major projects on Camano Island, LA, Seattle metro area and Phoenix. Lauren is passionate about the transformation of the mundane to the extraordinary, by way of paint and an infinity of inspiration.

Our community meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. There's nothing to join...you can just come and see what SCAAC is doing.

Each monthly meeting includes updates on art education, calls for art, public art projects, opportunities for artists/patrons/volunteers and more. The presentation is then emailed to everyone on the emailing list so that those that were unable to attend can see what we're up to. And it's FREE! There are no dues or fees involved.
