Small Craft Advisory is an invitational show of high-end crafts featuring the works of 16 artisans. Their work runs the gamut from pottery to violin making, glass-blown art to jewelry, stone carving to furniture building, extraordinary headgear to ceramics, sculpture to mixed media, Native American art to fiction writing, banjo building to stained glass. Our intention is to introduce the public to artistic and original works of craft. Are they art or are they craft? We think you’ll find a simple answer to that age-old and time-wearied question.Â
2022 Artists:
- Jack Archibald  Jack Archibald is a glass breaker. He also puts the pieces back together, sometimes in small panels for residential installations, other times for monumental murals for public buildings. From Alaska to Florida, Utah to Washington, his more than 60 large-scale glass murals are integrated into the architecture of train stations, fire headquarters, libraries, university buildings, public schools, airports, community centers and courthouses. He also builds stuff. His house, kayaks, sailboats, banjos, guitars, furniture and his life. He will tell you, in all honesty, that he is not the best craftsman around, but he tries to make everything he builds unique and his own creation. He thinks that’s what artists ought to do. He thinks all of us ought to be artists because, after all, we’re creating our lives day by day. At the show he’ll be bringing glass, furniture, boats, books and musical instruments.
